Younès Ben Slimane is a Tunisian artist and filmmaker whose practice lies at the intersection of cinema, architecture, and the visual arts. Through film and installation, his work explores the spirit of places, paying particular attention to their poetic charge, the traces they preserve, and the narratives they continue to hold. By working with the image as a sensitive and inhabitable space, he questions what places, forms, and images can still contain once they have been transformed. His works thus unfold a sensory cartography where memory, materiality, and presence circulate together.

With Images of Tunisia , the artist reappropriates and recontextualizes archive images from newsreels of the 1940s produced by Les Actualités Françaises, combining them with new images shot on the same sites of vernacular architecture in the Berber villages of southern Tunisia.
