Laurent Derobert
Performances - Celestines Church
Laurent Derobert (born in 1974, lives and works in Paris and Avignon) has conceived and developed existential mathematics . A Doctor of Economics and researcher (CNRS-GREQAM and University of Avignon), he examines our relationship to the world in algebraic form and produces equations like rigorous and sensitive poems.
His aim is to reclaim, through the use of mathematics, unexplored realms of consciousness and human relationships. What eludes us, what slips away, finds, for the duration of a formula, a meditative density. Force of attraction of the dreamed being , Asymptote of worlds , Speed of liberation … From one formula to the next, the goal is to reduce the inner maze within each of us, this labyrinthine distance that separates us from ourselves, from what we believe ourselves to be, from what we dream of being.
The opportunity is too good to pass up, Laurent Derobert offers the Parcours de l'Art his mathematical formula for hospitality: "Hospitality as the hope of the strangeness of others".
Laurent Derobert will also present the performance Odyssé , an invitation to a journey, to a garden. A journey in the wake of Ulysses to cultivate a garden of the Odyssey.
Here are the plants named by Homer, scattered throughout the songs. There are the riverbanks where they bloom, inspired by the theories of Callimachus, Bérard, and Cuisenier. To read is to gather. In Greek, legein means first to harvest flowers and fruits, then to gather images and words with one's gaze. So it is up to us to read the Odyssey at the level of blades of grass and wildflowers. It is up to us to gather its leaves and fruits. The seeds especially.
And these seeds of the Odyssey , held in our hands like tiny and infinite promises, will give us the opportunity to offer it to the world again upon our return.
