Giulia Zanvit

Installation - Church of the Celestins

Giulia Zanvit, born in 1991 in Alès, graduated from MO.CO Montpellier in 2014. She lives and works in the Cévennes region. Her work has been exhibited in museums, art centers, and galleries in France and internationally. She develops her research in connection with natural environments through residencies, workshops, and collaborations. With her multidisciplinary approach, she is involved in projects related to care and ecology.

With her practice, Giulia Zanvit enters a world beyond, a realm where kingdoms have no hierarchy. In a basket, in her pockets, or on her back, she carries what she lovingly gathers: silvery schist, fluttering seeds, slender grasses, fragrant lavender. She neither cultivates nor buys. She moves about, gets down to their level, to collect or pick. In silence, she listens to those who do not speak her language: the raw materials gathered, the natural elements present, the places, or rather spaces, where she finds herself. Through simple and meditative gestures, she embraces the slow passage of time and strives to reveal the wonder of the natural world as it is, nestled in the detail, the infinitesimal, the ordinary, the raw. For this "Hospitality" theme, she proposes to present two works designed to welcome.

The first is designed for humans, the second for silkworm caterpillars. These two works, like a space-time continuum or an architectural structure, become a place of passage where interspecies connections are forged. A place of welcome, sharing, and resonance, allowing us to imagine new ways of inhabiting the world.
