Anaïs Roubertou
Installation - Church of the Celestins
Born in 1997, Anaïs Roubertou lives and works in Marseille. A graduate of the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Nîmes in 2022, she has developed a practice that blends installation, publishing, and mediation. A recipient of several grants supporting artistic creation (Documents d'artistes Émergence Occitanie, OASIS, QUILT), she exhibits in France and internationally. Co-founder of the publishing house book of me in 2023, she explores the connections between books, accessibility, and exhibitions, while also developing forms of performance-based mediation.
Anaïs Roubertou establishes connections between her body, a reflection on nature, and the materials chosen in her installations and performances. The contours of her work are those of the language she manages to conceal through living, organic, moving devices from which a transformation always arises.
The choice of this evolving material is made with precision: from algae from the polluted Berre pond, to recycled paper from old notebooks, to the weed seeds from her germinators. Initially, there are two parallel paths maintained by Anaïs Roubertou.
The first established connections with the natural sciences through her art degree from the Sorbonne; subsequently, she developed a complex lexicon of signs reflecting her experience during her DNSEP (National Higher Diploma in Visual Arts) at the Nîmes School of Fine Arts. Today, this coherent body of work allows her to articulate a critical discourse on the forms of refuge that the states of metamorphosis she has undergone can take.
